Valerie Whitebird is the Lead Supportive Services Social Worker at Fond du Lac Reservation. She has been at FDL Social Services for 6 years. Prior to that she worked at AICHO as a case manager for a homeless program called Giiwe Mobile Team and as a juvenile probation officer for Ramsey county. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice – Leadership and Management. Valerie decided that after witnessing what happens after crimes are committed, she would like to be at the other end of the spectrum, possibly assisting in prevention. Homelessness has been a draw to her, as she often sees people struggling in her community and wants to help.
